Obviously,
there is more storage space below bigger worktops. After the
position of the sink, fridge, hob and oven have been finalised,
the remaining space below the worktop is all available to
you, but just remember there are solutions other than cupboards.
Below
worktop storage is probably best suited for heavy items
like electrical appliances and heavy cooking utensils. Consider
how much space you need for the items you already have and
remember to allow for the inevitable future purchases.
Cutlery
is usually stored in drawers below the worktop and, if you
position this close to the dishwasher or sink, it will assist
storage after cleaning.
Vegetables
that don't need to be in the fridge can also go beneath
the worktop.
When locating vegetables remember they need to be kept dry
and in the dark. Also do not place them too close to an
oven or hob where they can pick up heat, which will reduce
their useable life.
Larger
Knives and tools can be stored in magnetic holders attached
to the wall or on the worktop. Don't overdo this however
to avoid the cluttered look.
However
a cupboard is not really suitable for wine bottles, much
better to consider a special rack where you can display
your Wines and easily see what you have.
