as it is relativity cheap and is available in a variety of
textures, patterns and colours. Choose 40mm thick worktops
with a good quality laminate. It is advisable to choose a
well known branded product as quality varies dramatically.
Make sure the joints are always mitred, as this will prove
far more attractive & hygienic than using metal jointing
strips.
High gloss worktops are available in several laminated surfaces
but beware these surfaces they are extremely prone to scratches.
Never place hot pans directly on the worktop as this can easily
result in damage.
Never use the worktop as a chopping board as this will scratch
the surface.
The use of 'worktop savers' costing around £20 - £30 will
protect the surface.
Expect to pay around £100 - £150 for a 4m length of worktop.
